Mario Badescu Acne Facial Cleanser

I picked this up at Ulta for $15 a couple weeks ago. I have acne prone skin and a lot of redness. The website says " exfoliating and deep cleansing wash formulated with acne-fighting Salicylic Acid. Contains Aloe Vera and Chamomile, two natural ingredients that calm and soothe acne inflamed skin." This face wash helps tone down the redness when I use it in the morning so I don't have to use as much make up to mask the redness. I use it with my Olay facial cleansing brush and both together really deep cleans my pores and help keep them clear. The smell is kind of an herbal smell, not unpleasant at all. I have noticed a reduction in acne with this product and my skin feels smoother after use. $15 is a price I would be willing to pay again for this product and I recommend it! I'm really liking this brand so far!

"You don't love a woman because she is beautiful. She is beautiful because you love her."

Mario Badescu Glycolic Foaming Wash

I recently picked this up at Ulta. I have never tried Mario Badescu products before but I have heard amazing reviews so I picked up this and the Acne Facial Cleanser.

This. Product. Rocks.

After I use it, my face feels smoother and softer than before I used it. And it doesn't sting or irritate my skin at all. I use this as my night time cleanser. It says on the bottle to use 2-3 times per week but my skin is tough. I even think its helping to get rid of some of my acne scars. Seriously, I love this cleanser. It doesn't lather to much but it leaves my skin feeling clean. It doesn't have a chemical smell. I actually kinda think it smells like froot loops!

I would recommend this product to anyone who wants to brighten their skin, or wants to exfoliate without using a physical exfoliator. The price was $15 at Ulta, which is a pretty fair price in my opinion. Try it out!

Review on Acne Facial Cleanser to come!

Answer Time!

Here are the answers to the questions I got on the previous post!

Question #1: What inspired you to start a blog?

I've been blogging for awhile. Mostly blogs about things that happen in my daily life. I started watching youtube beauty guru Michelle Phan (michellephan) about a year ago and shortly after that discovered Elle and Blair (AllThatGlitters21 and JuicyStar07). I've been into make-up and beauty products for awhile but I didn't really want to start a youtube channel because I don't like the way I look or sound on camera. My friends used to always tell me that I had more tips and was more knowledgeable about make-up than anyone they knew, even though I am the least likely to wear make-up! At that point, I decided to just start a blog about beauty and products and here I am!

Question #2: What is your fav blog?

That's a really hard question because I love all the blogs I subscribe to! I always love Blair's posts though!

Question #3: What product over exceeded expectations the first time you used it and what under exceeded?

Over exceeded: Jergans Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer. I'm a pretty pale person and I never tan, only burn. So I am forced to faux glow, which isn't bad since tanning is extremely bad for your skin. Most self tanners turn me orange though, or I never apply them right and end up streaky. I picked this up thinking it was just going to be another dud product that I would never finish. Nope. I never turn orange OR streaky using this product, just a nice shade of bronze. I was quite surprised!

Under exceeded: DEFINITELY Proactiv. I've bought this a couple of times between the ages of 16 and 22 and each time used it for about 6 months to give it a fair trial. I've even tried the "new and improved formula" and the extra strength formula. No go. Made my acne worse EVERY TIME. Total disappointment.

Question #4: What's your most reached for product?

That would have to be my Lypsyl Lypmoisturizer. My lips get really dry and chapped if I don't use lip balm and this is my Holy Grail of lip balms. I always have a tube in my pocket and if I forget it at home when I go somewhere, I will stop and pick up a new tube.

Question #5: What do you do to make yourself feel better?

I blog! Giving people advice always makes me feel better. For the same reason, I go to the forums on elleandblair.com. Sometimes I'll watch one of my favorite movies, or read a book.

There's my answers! If anyone else has any questions, leave a comment and I'll add it to this post. Or, request another blog post!

Ask Me!

Hey guys! I've decided I want to do a question and answer post where you, my readers, ask me a question and I'll give you an answer. I think a blogger should be more than just a post. It's important for your readers to know you and be able to relate to you.  So leave a question as a comment and I'll put together a blog post where I answer them! This should be fun :)

-AmieeJoy<3

*I reserve to right to not answer any questions which I feel may be to personal in nature or that may give out to much information I'm not comfortable sharing. I'm a pretty open person though so I'm not anticipating any problems!

Requested Post-5 Beauty Products I Can't Live Without

I had this blog post requested and I had to think REALLY HARD about what to write about. The problem is I'm really not a make-up girl. I buy enough of it that you would think I am but I've never really been into the whole having to apply it everyday routine. Sometimes I'll wear it on the weekends, but almost never during the week. That being said, here's the 5 beauty products I can't live without.

#1: Lypsyl Lypmoisturizer

This is the ONLY lip balm I use (I even use it under tinted lip balms). My lips are very picky when it comes to lip balms and this keeps them moisturized and smooth and it even leaves a bit of shine. Love it!

#2: Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips in Waikiki Strip

This is a blush/bronzer/eyeshadow palette. I really only use it as eyeshadow since there is to much sparkle for me when I use it as a blush or bronzer. It's a good neutral palette and easy to use since the colors go lightest to darkest.

#3: Origins VitaZing Tinted Moisturizer

This is the tinted moisturizer I currently use most. I like that it has SPF 12 and it brightens my skin a bit.

#4: Mascara

I own TONS of different mascaras. I don't care about the brand, I just love it. My lashes are already pretty thick and long so I just grab one and put it on. Colored ones are fun to play with!

#5: Face Wash

As long as I can have face wash, I'm good. My face would explode if I didn't at least clean it twice a day.

There it is! My top 5 beauty products. What are yours? Leave me a comment and let me know. Or, request another blog post!

Ulta Haul

So today I went to Ulta for the first time and I'm in <3. They have a lot of awesome products from a lot of brands. For those who haven't been, its pretty much right in between a drugstore and Sephora. They sell drugstore brands (Covergirl, Maybelline, etc.) but they also sell higher end brands (Bare Minerals, Too Faced, Lorac, etc.). They also have a salon in-store. I picked up only a couple of things (and it was really hard to choose...darn budgets!), and I thought I'd share them with you! Here we go!

First off, I got 2 Mario Badescu products. I've been hearing a lot about this brand and I'm really excited to try it.

I got the Acne Facial Cleanser and the Glycolic Foaming Cleanser. My skin is acne prone which hopefully the acne cleanser will help but its also a bit dull so thats where the glycolic acid cleanser comes in. I'm excited to try these products and hope they work well.

I also picked up Jean Pierre Cosmetics Exfoliating cleansing towelettes. These have a funny smell but basically do their job.

Because I signed up for Ultas free rewards program, I also got four free gifts.

An Ulta eyeshadow in Sandstone. I tried to swatch it for you but its a really light, bronzy color so it didn't show up well. It looks pretty though and its a good neutral color.

This is a leave in conditioner that is supposed to make your hair soft, silky and full. I'm definitely looking forward to trying this one out!

Goldwell Color Glow Bright Shine Conditioner for Warm Blondes. Unfortunately, I can't use this product because my hair is red.

I also got an anti bacterial hand lotion in Citrus Splash. I like the scent and the lotion isn't to drying which is good.

So theres my products! I'm thinking I might have to get a second job so I can shop there more!

Have you tried any of these products? What did you think? Let me know in the comments! Or request a post!

Requested Post-Must Have Body Products

These are some of my favorite body products :)

St. Ives Body Polish Oatmeal and Shea Butter

I like this body scrub especially with spring here and my skin looking not-so-great from the winter months. I usually use it after a body wash and its also a really good exfoliator to use before using a self tanner. I would recommend not using this on a day you're going to shave your legs because it ended up being to much exfoliation for my legs and they were dry and a little red. But this is a great product!

St. Ives Naturally Clear Green Tea Body Wash

Another St. Ives product, I know, but I love the brand! This helps to clear breakouts on the body, perfect for the spring and summer months. I like the body wash better than the scrub because I don't feel like I need to exfoliate my body everyday and I like my body polish to much. This smells like the St. Ives Green Tea cleansers which isn't a bad smell. It's also helped clear up some minor body breakouts I was experiencing.

Jergans Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer

This is a good body moisturizer and gradual self tanner. I am pretty pale and I don't tan at all, I only burn so I have to use a self tanner if I want color. This product has NEVER turned me even the slightest hint of orange. I've tried both the lotion and the foam and I like both.

Venus Spa Breeze 2 in 1 Razor

I like this razor because the shave gel bars make shaving easy. I don't know about you, but I don't want to spend half my summer in the shower shaving. This product you just lather, shave, and go! It's moisturizing enough to not give you nicks and smells great!

Schick Quattro Trim Style

I like to use this for my bikini line. The trimmer is perfect and makes shaving easy, without nicks. You can also adjust the trimmer to trim hair to different lengths. A definite summer must have!

So there it is! My favorite body products! What are yours? Leave me a comment and let me know, or request a blog post!

Water, water everywhere

Ok, let me start by saying, I used to be a soda addict. I would drink 3+ cans of soda a day and it was what I would drink when I went out to eat. Then one day I decided, hey, maybe this whole soda thing isn't good for me. Maybe I should drink more water.

Best. Decision. EVER.

Now I drink about between 1 and 2 liters of water a day, sometimes more. I drink soda rarely and I drink grape juice if I want something with flavor. My skin has cleared up immensely. I still get breakouts but the amount of breakouts I get has decreased and my skin just looks dewier and healthier. I don't feel as sluggish throughout the day either. Really, everyone should drink water all day everyday. I guarantee you'll see positive effects in some way. Try it for a week and let me know how it goes!

Have something you want me to post on? Leave a comment!

What should be in my beach bag?

Summer is around the corner which means BEACH TIME! A day at the beach is relaxing and fun. But there are some essentials you should always bring. Here are my beach bag essentials.

The beach bag I'm thinking of purchasing this summer is from Forever 21. Here's a pic:
Cute right? And only $18.80! My requirements for a beach bag is something sturdy but not to heavy, something that is big enough to haul my stuff but not big enough to look like I'm going to be living on the beach for a month and something easy to carry. This fits all 3.

First, the most important thing you need, SUNBLOCK. I prefer the Neutrogena Dry Touch sunblock.
I tend to not like spray sunscreens because I burn VERY EASILY and I tend to always miss spots with sprays. Also, for a day at the beach I would recommend an SPF 50 sunblock. Contrary to popular belief, higher SPFs don't protect any better. Anything above SPF 50 is basically the same. Be sure to apply a shot glass full amount to your body and a teaspoon amount to your face. And don't forget to REAPPLY every 2 hours or after a swim or periods of excessive sweating. A tube of sunscreen should last a couple trips to the beach, not all summer.

Next is sunglasses. I recommend purchasing a pair that has UV lenses to help protect your eyes.

Next is a hat. I usually bring a broad brimmed hat so I'm more sheltered from the sun.

And of course you need a beach towel.

Next is water. I usually bring at least one bottle with me so I don't have to run right to a store or vendor to get water. Water is so important at the beach because your body gets dried out and dehydrated from sitting in the sun. I usually like to drink Smart Water at the beach.

This has electrolytes that helps replace those lost through sweating.

My hair isn't long anymore but when it was I brought leave in conditioner so I could untangle my salt water drenched hair.
I liked this because it has vitamins that are good for your hair and it smells great.

I usually also have reading materials, my iPod to listen to music or watch TV shows, my cell phone and an extra pair of flip flops (you never know when your sandal will break!). I also have money and ID.

Those are my beach bag essentials! Whats are yours? Leave me a comment and let me know or request a blog post!
